With our Dressing for Fame series, we bring you an exclusive, insider look at everything it takes to create iconic celebrity style moments.
When the world is your catwalk, celebrity styling takes on a whole new meaning. Such is the case for Monica Rose, the go-to stylist for Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, and Giuliana Rancic. Here, she talks exclusively to Style.com about what it’s like being part of the Kardashian orbit, how she helps her clients dress for their body type, and more.
How did you first begin working with the Kardashians?
I first had the opportunity to work with Kim back in 2007—I was booked on a cover shoot for Complex magazine. This was before they started filming Keeping Up With the Kardashians. We reconnected a few months later when I was booked on a shoot with Kourtney for Maxim. The rest is history.
How do you keep the sisters’ styles separate, and what do you do to keep it unique?
I dress each of my clients according to their specific body type. To keep their styles separate, I always try to tap into their personality and evoke what they’re inspired by at that moment. The girls have their own amazing style, and by collaborating with them, we’ve created their signature looks. They bring such incredible ideas to the table, and it’s my job to bring them to life. Also, I’m always on the hunt for new and special pieces from around the world that I like to share with each client. I want their looks to be polished, clean, and as effortless as possible.
What would you love to see Kendall and Kylie in?
They’ve both carved their own footprint in terms of standout personal style. I love seeing them in anything that accentuates their individuality.
How will you continue to push the envelope with them?
It’s important to go above and beyond during each collaborative session with all of my clients. It’s always fun to incorporate new elements of edginess while helping to amplify their personal style.
When you’re working with people as visible as the Kardashians, does social media impact how and what you style them in?
No, not at all. I don’t pay attention to what other people say. I do what makes my clients happy and what they love—that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
When dressing Kylie and Kendall, since they are on red carpets together, do you style them together to coordinate or separately?
I usually do their fittings on the same day if time permits, but never at the same time. I make sure to give each of the girls their own appointment and completely separate options.
Does dressing a burgeoning supermodel [Kendall] impact the way you dress her or add to the pressure you feel?
It doesn’t add any pressure. More than anything, I’m beyond excited and inspired because she’s ready and willing to try new things and take risks, which I love. For example, when we did the Much Music Awards, we used a dress with exaggerated high slits, which was risky, but she pulled it off with so much confidence.
Thank you @styledotcom for the interview! XOXO
I have always been a fan of the good ol' hair tuck trend. Great for the days you are having bad hair day or you just want to hide your hair. I have these days very often and have been doing this for years. Simply tuck your hair inside scarfs, chunky knits and oversize coats, this style will look sophisticated, effortless while still having a natural feel. The quick styling trick also offers the illusion of a short hair, without committing to chopping it!
Here are some key items I picked for you to perfect the hair tuck
I am so excited to give my readers another chance to look fabulous while helping out a GREAT cause, thanks to one of my dearest friends and clients, Giuliana. The Pink Agenda – a New York based non-profit focused on finding and funding breast cancer research initiatives – has partnered with Giuliana Rancic and her initiative “Fab-U-Wish” to help women battling breast cancer feel beautiful – and feel better – during their most difficult times.
Under the new partnership, Fab-U-Wish and The Pink Agenda will provide women undergoing treatment with an opportunity to spend a day feeling “fabulous” by living out one of their dreams. As many of you know, Giuliana faced her own battle with breast cancer just a few years ago when she underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer:
“During this time, I found that sometimes the smallest things – having my hair and makeup done, putting on a beautiful outfit, being treated like a princess – often had a huge impact on how I felt. Even during those times when the disease seemed like it might get the best of me, getting the ‘Hollywood treatment’ made such a difference,”Rancic said of her battle.
With this in mind, Giuliana started her own initiative Fab-U-Wish, which has granted wishes to women across the country, showering them with special days of pampering and glamour. To celebrate the partnership, Giuliana Rancic and The Pink Agenda will be giving awayTHREE G by Giuliana Trench Coats valued at $158.00 each! This classic double-breasted trench coat from Giuliana Rancic livens your wardrobe — even when it's dark and drab outside! For this contest, Giuliana will be selecting three winners. Each winner will receive one trench coat in the size of his or her choice. Giveaway begins September 25th and ends on September 30th at midnight! Good luck!

Had so much fun working the Emmys this year with Giuliana. We decided to go with this beautiful red Gustavo Cadile gown, we were deciding between this one and a black one- my gut instinct told me to go with the red, and it happened to be the color of the evening! Hope you enjoy these pics!
